New York State also has its own set of labor law posters that must be displayed in workplaces.

To ensure that employees are aware of their rights under these laws, employers are required to display federal and state labor law posters in a conspicuous place where employees can see them. In New York, the current minimum wage is $12.50 per hour for non-exempt employees. Employers must display a notice informing employees of the current minimum wage in a conspicuous place where all employees can see it. The notice must be written in English and Spanish, and it must be updated whenever the minimum wage changes.
Federal law requires employers to display a different kind of poster, known as the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) poster. This poster provides information about employees’ rights under the FLSA, including the right to receive at least the federal minimum wage for all hours worked and overtime pay for hours worked over 40 in a week. The FLSA poster must be displayed in a conspicuous place where all employees can see it.

New York also has its own set of labor law posters, which must be posted in addition to the federal posters.
State and federal child labor laws exist to ensure that young workers are not exploited or put in danger while on the job. These laws set specific age limits for certain types of work, as well as establish hour limits and break times for workers under 18 years of age. Employers who violate these laws can be subject to heavy fines and other penalties.
The federal government’s child labor poster, titled “Your Rights Under the Fair Labor Standards Act,” must be posted in a conspicuous place where all workers can see it.
